In recognition of International Self-Care Day on 24 July 2025, it’s the perfect time to pause and take stock of how you’re really doing.
Let’s be honest, when you run a business or work in a corporate role, self-care tends to fall into the “I’ll get to it later” pile. But what if we stop thinking of self-care as something that only happens after work, on weekends, or during an annual holiday? What if it’s something we can thread into the everyday?
At Nova X, wellness is part of the process. Because burnout doesn’t announce itself. It creeps in slowly while you're powering through emails at 11pm or skipping lunch for the fifth day in a row.
A Personal Note from Storm
I used to be that person waiting for the long weekend or the annual holiday to finally relax. And every time, it felt the same, by the time I started to unwind, it was time to head back to work. My mind would already be racing with the number of emails waiting and the clients needing replies. It wasn’t helping me reset at all.
That started to shift when I made space for micro moments of self-care throughout my week. Slowly, my mindset changed. I no longer felt the urge to escape because my everyday started feeling lighter.
These days, my week includes two visits to a wellness lounge, a salt therapy session, a few gym visits when I can manage, a walk or jog, cooking one nutritious meal (not a chef here, just trying), and more recently, working on my sleep routine. I now have a proper wind-down plan that kicks off from 8pm less screen time, calming music, and quiet to help me get proper rest.
Honestly, I think quality sleep is one of the most underrated self-care moves we have. Better sleep = better output. Every time.
